Belmont House Fredericksburg

A contemporary Fredericksburg artist created this piece of art in honor of one of the area’s most influential artists.

Located on a hill overlooking the Rappahannock River, Belmont was the home and studio of the famous American artist Gari Melchers. A modern interpretation of Belmont is portrayed in this artwork, as a historical estate, with expressive ink work and flowing colors and lines portraying a sense of loose naturalism, in homage to Melcher's style of painting.

The artist brought the subject of Belmont to life using expressive line work and watercolor to give it a modern twist and creative feel. Instead of drawing precise lines of the building the artist has given a feeling of the place, highlighting the artistic legacy of the estate, its beautiful grounds and the classic lines of the formal house.
